Fourth time’s a charm?

Hi there!

Another blog post after much radio silence? That is indeed the case.  What’s more, it’s another jumpsuit (who am I these days, anyway?!)

Today sees the publication of my latest Minerva Crafts Blogger Network make. And I chose to do my fourth version of the Closet Case Files “Sallie” jumpsuit.

I know, same old same old, but I guess that ties in to the TNT theme on the Sewcialists blog this month.  And the beauty to me of a TNT pattern is, I can just crack on and get sewing without messing about with any pattern adjustments.

Which, when you’re sewing at speed because your washing machine broke for a whole month and you couldn’t get to prewash the fabric until 2 days before your deadline, is pretty crucial!

The only difference between this version and the other versions of the jumpsuit I’ve made (short and culottes) is that I chose the full length version.  I was thinking that this pattern could work really well as going out wear for the winter season, I’m clearly getting old as I’m now all about the secret pyjamas!

Be warned though; even at 5’7”, I chopped a LOT of fabric off the bottom of these!

Anyway, I love the finished garment and you can read all the details here.

Thanks Minerva!

Details:

Pattern: Sallie dress and jumpsuit by Closet Case Patterns

My measurements: bust 35″: waist / torso 30″: hip 40″

Size cut: 8-10 on top; 10-12 on pants

Fabric: 3m black viscose jersey from Minerva Crafts (97% viscose, 3% spandex)

stretch interfacing from Sew Essential (used to stabilise the neckline)

Adjustments made: added 2″ to crotch depth at the lengthen / shorten line.  Removed around 3″ from the bottom of the trouser and used a 2″ hem.

Future adjustments: possibly lengthen bodice slightly to increase blousy effect

Make again: Yep!

  1. Love this Becca! I also made a plain black one in the summer! Lol! We both really do love this pattern! I think I might need to buy some of this slinky jersey though…mine is a thicker crepe jersey and it doesn’t feel that eveningy. Of course, I’ve also been contemplating making one in glittery jersey…but that’s probably too much. Right?? 😉 xx
